Peaceful Goodbyes provides a way for you to say your final farewell to your cherished pet at your home in a relaxed and stress-free manner for your beloved companion. When you and your veterinarian have determined that your pet no longer has an acceptable quality of life, Dr. Mark Ferris can help to make this final decision a peaceful and private moment for you, your family, and your beloved pet.

Often times the pet owner chooses to bury their pet at home; however, there are many occasions when this is not possible or desired. Dr. Ferris' services also include individual or common cremation if desired by the client. He has established a working relationship with the crematoriums at Five Points Veterinary Clinic in Hopewell, PA and Genesis Cremation Services in Chester, WV. He has 24-hour access to both crematoriums. It is important to note that there is no third party handling of your pet when using either of these two crematoriums. . Dr. Ferris will personally transport your pet and see that your pet is treated with reverence and dignity. Dr. Ferris will return the remains to the family in a timely fashion.

In January 2021, Dr. Ferris added Trusted Journey Pet Memorial Services (formerly Western Farms Pet Crematory) to assist with his cremations for Peaceful Goodbyes. While an owner of Hilltop Animal Hospital, he used them solely for cremation services from 1998-2016. Not only do they provide private and communal cremations for companion animals, but they offer a variety of urns as well as treasured keepsake mementos, including pendants and custom charms.

There are two options available for cremation. The first is individual cremation where the pet is cremated separately, and the ashes (cremains) are returned to the owner personally by Dr. Ferris in a beautiful urn with an engraved brass name plate. Common cremation, the second option, is when the pet is cremated with other pets and no cremains are returned to the owner. Dr. Ferris, on occasion and weather permitting, has personally buried some pets for clients on his 50 acre residence – Twin Springs Farm. Special requests, arrangements, and pricing for this can be discussed with him.

Dr. Ferris will also perform euthanasia for equine and companion livestock when requested.
